Created by Quantum® sail designer and racer Fernando Sallent, Quantum’s® Optimist sails are winning world championships and local regattas everywhere! For competitive Optimist sailors, the radial sail design has more features and delivers greater performance compared to cross-cut sails. Available in four models based on skipper weight.

Quantum’s radial Optimist sails are made of the highest quality 2.99 Polykote Dacron from Contender, which has proven to be the most durable cloth in the Opti class. The sail panels are cut with threads facing the stress direction for greatest strength and shape-holding ability.
All sails come complete with battens, vision window, luff & leech tell-tales, IODA royalty button, tube bag, sail ties and sail numbers (digital eights for customer installation). Factory-installed numbers are available for an additional fee.

About the Designer
Fernando Sallent created the dinghy department for Quantum Spain in Barcelona where he has been developingsails for over 27 years. Fernando is also known for his work on 420, 470 and Tornado sails, all of which have won World Championships and Olympic gold medals. As a young sailor, Fernando garnered second place at the Optimist Team Worlds and third place in the ISAF Youth Worlds’ event. Fernando continues as an active racer with five Spanish national 420 championships and a First Class 8 Spain National Championship to his credit. Fernando also serves as racing adviser and Olympic coach.
