Spinlock, Maintaining Your Life Jacket

Maintaining your Deckvest

Is your life jacket in good and serviceable condition?

Check your life jacket between outings to be sure it is properly armed, free of rips, tears or holes and that all seams are securely sewn and the fabric, straps and hardware are still strong.

To clean your Deckvest, remove the C0² gas cylinder and the automatic inflation capsule, hand wash or sponge down in warm soapy water and rinse with clean water. Hang to dry and be sure to replace the automatic inflation capsule.

When storing your life jacket for extended periods, keep it in a warm, dry place out of direct sunlight.

The inflatable bladder and inflation system should also be regularly inspected and the Deckvest inflated using either the manual or oral inflation. This is detailed in ‘Inspecting your Deckvest’ online video.

It is recommended that you service your life jacket every year at a certified life jacket service station. A list of recommended service centres is listed on
